A legend at the keyboard, Ramsey Lewis’ innovative touch can be credited with the popularity of smooth jazz. His timeless songs, such as “The In Crowd,” “Sun Goddess” and “Hang on Sloopy,” have earned him three Grammy Awards and seven gold records. In January of 2007, Mr. Lewis received the title of “Jazz Master” from the prestigious National Endowment for the Arts. His latest album With One Voice celebrates his deep gospel roots and features many of the traditional hymns performed in churches throughout the world as well as some of Lewis’ funky original compositions. In addition to his renown as a jazz performer, Mr. Lewis hosts a weekly radio show Legends of Jazz that can be heard nationwide (including on Phoenix’s own KYOT) and a PBS television series of the same name.
